Although Leclerc only ranked 8th in the league in saves, he threw more innings and had a lower ERA/OPSA than any of the top 10 relievers in saves. His WHIP was lower than any of them except Treinen, who equaled that 0.69 mark. His 43 Inherited Runners Stranded also paced that group by a wide margin.
Leclerc did blow two saves, but he was not charged with a run in either game. The first instance occurred after the re-sim in which he entered with a runner on 3rd and less than two outs, allowing only a sacrifice fly. The second came during the final sim; he entered into a bases loaded, no-out situation in the 6th inning with a one-run lead and limited the damage to just two runs on one hit. Gaetti would come back to win both of these contests in extras thanks in part to Leclerc's efforts.
There are lots of good relievers in the league this year, and I hope Jose Leclerc does not get lost in the shuffle for Henke consideration.
